In a statement sent to Reuters on Thursday, JBS said Seara became the first company in Brazil authorized by India to sell chicken products in the Asian nation.
India’s per capita chicken consumption is forecast to increase to 2.23kg in 2019, up from 2.18kg in the previous year, as personal incomes rise, according data from the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization.
Vegan meat maker Beyond Meat is in the News

Production losses in 2019 are expected to amount to 14% of the world’s pork supply but may continue to move higher.
Joint venture with Rocio Group results in a new company: Aviagen Peru
Aviagen® Group and Rocio Group signed a strategic agreement today for a joint venture. Under the agreement, Avicola del Norte (Avinor), a Rocio Group company, becomes a subsidiary of Aviagen under the name Aviagen Peru. Europe: Plan for promoting poultry meat to be launched
The European poultry organisation AVEC is in de process of raising funds for a €5.5m campaign promoting EU poultry meat over the next 2 years.
When the funds are in, a tender for the promotion campaign will become active. The tender, which was already publicised, aims to increase public awareness of high production standards in the European Union as well as the health benefits of eating poultry meat.
RUSSIAN POULTRY GROUP CHERKIZOVO IN TALKS TO BUY RIVAL PRIOSKOLIE- SOURCES
Russian poultry producer Cherkizovo Group is in talks to buy major local rival Prioskolie, two industry sources and an official in Belgorod, one of the country's leading agricultural regions, told Reuters.
A deal would cement Cherkizovo's position as the largest producer of poultry meat in Russia.
"The process (of talks) has been going on for a long time," the official, who asked not to be identified, said. The sources did not disclose a value for the deal if it goes ahead.
EU grants UK third country status to protect exports

British Meat Processors Association to challenge UK's 10-day shelf life rule
UK - Over the last year, the British Meat Processors Association together with Meat and Livestock Australia have jointly funded a project to provide independent research into whether a retail shelf-life of greater than 10 days can be applied to fresh chilled meat.
The results have just been published and the evidence clearly points to the fact that the Food Standard Authority’s 2017 guidance should now be challenged, and that retail shelf life can, in fact, be extended beyond the current recommended 10-day shelf life limit for Vacuum and Modified Atmosphere Packed fresh meat.

Kraft Heinz, Conagra, Nestle file poultry price-fixing suit
Kraft Heinz Co., Conagra Brands, Inc., Nestle USA Inc. and Nestle Purina Petcare Co. on March 29 filed a lawsuit in Chicago federal court claiming that Tyson Foods, Inc., Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. and other poultry processors conspired to inflate chicken prices.
The poultry companies, listed as defendants, engaged in price fixing from 2008 to 2016, according to the court documents.
